Source: Russia, EU, Ukraine may still mull gas issues in September

BRUSSELS, Jun 26 (PRIME) -- Russia, Ukraine, and the E.U. may meet to discuss natural gas problems in September, a source familiar with the matter told PRIME on Wednesday.

“Vice President (of the European Commission for Energy Union Maros) Sefcovic has had a contact with the Russian side. The date of a new trilateral meeting has not been scheduled yet. We are moving towards September, after parliamentary elections in Ukraine,” the source said.

Earlier in June, Sefcovic met with Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and said that Novak had confirmed Russia’s readiness for the next round of gas talks in September. But Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky suggested holding an earlier meeting before parliamentary elections in the country, and Sefcovic said he planned to discuss the proposition with the Russian side.
